Wimbledon is in full swing already so yes, the British summer has well and truly arrived along with strawberries and cream. It is all eyes on SW19 for the third tennis Grand Slam of the Year and home favourite Andy Murray is once again carrying the weight of expectation on his shoulders. He is the reigning champion after winning the Wimbledon title for the second time in his career last year when he beat Canadian Milos Raonic in the final.
Murray, who hasn’t had a great season because of injury and illness will be hoping to feel his way into the tournament and he did get off to a cracking start, winning his first round matchup in straight sets. But the money on the outright winner market has been going to Novak Djokovic as the former champion and world number one has been in a slump and that meant that was a huge price on him ahead of this Grand Slam that punters couldn’t miss.
It is the evergreen Roger Federer who is the outright favourite for the title. He is looking for his second Grand Slam title of the year having already rolled back those years to collect the Australian Open at the start of the year. The master of grass has won the Wimbledon title seven times before in his illustrious career and knows his way around Centre Court pretty well. Former champion Rafael Nadal is the other big gun in the field, carrying form into SW19 off the clay swing of the season.
So there are plenty of matches to flow across the remainder of the fortnight of tennis action from Wimbledon. Who will be the last man standing? Will it, for the first time since 2003, be someone outside of the big four?
Paddy Power are running a 2 Up – You Win promotion for Wimbledon 2017. Back a selection in a match and if your player goes two sets up, then you immediately get paid out as a winner. Paddy Power are also running a Crowd Powered Price for Wimbledon 2017. Federer, Murray, Djokovic and Nadal were 3/1 to ALL reach the semi-finals of the tournament. But in this offer, the more people that bet on it, the bigger the price will be. As more punters pile on to the offer, the price will rise up to a maximum of 14/1! There is a max £20 bet on that one! Your bet will be paid out in full if Federer, Murray, Djokovic and Nadal all reach the Wimbledon 2017 Men Semi-Finals at whatever price is reached!
